Finally I finished the language school, I have more free time to do whatever I like. But I don’t know why, since the last month, I have been busy at doing sightseeing and had some parties. I didn’t sleep much, almost less than 5 hours per day. The day before taking a flight to Denver, I only slept 2 hours! In the early morning, I left from my room at 6 o’clock, and my flight was at 8 o’clock…
I was just in time to get to the gate; luckily I have traveled many times, so I was not nervous and still had time to buy a cup of coffee.
I had to transfer at Minneapolis airport, the first flight was a small airplane. The attendant waved her handkerchief to hurry me to board.
After around three and half hours I arrived to MSP, I could feel the cold weather it would be. Just a short stay, most of visitors looked like Americans.
The flight to Denver was bigger and still had vacancy; the man sat next to me was very friendly. I thought it’s a good start. Probably I could meet nice people in Denver.
Denver International Airport. At the time I realized I was going to start an adventure!
There could be a tornado!
Denver was developed by the gold rush, so its history is highly related to gold mine. The building itself is very stylish. The guides waiting in front of the departure hall are dressing as cowboys. They are proud of their own history.
I saw this promotion. I signed up for getting a free motorcycle. It will be mine!
Before I arrived here, I got nothing about Denver. So here is my information center! And I walked to Tourist Counter, there were two old men waiting there. They are so patient no matter I asked them lots of questions. Finally I asked them to have a photo with me, Ken, who is with me in the photo murmured , “Why I have to do this?” In my experience, the elder are welcoming to help you take pictures, but their skills are a little old-fashioned,, Haaha!
Next I took a shuttle bus to get my car, the same company when I rented a car in Beacon, NY. This time I chose a black Mazda for my car. It was new even its plate hadn’t issued. (The front desk service agent said I am from China. They can’t make sense!)
It was my second time driving. Everything was fine, I drove to the hotel. It’s a chain, I got 39 USD per night by Priceline.com. I saved a lot! Comparing last time the hotel in Beacon, this one is cheaper and nicer!
Put all my stuff, I drove to Denver downtown. On the way I saw different scene from the other cities I had visited.
The central main street is 16th street, there are free shuttle bus going along the street.
The Civic Center Park.
Sleeping bags? They look like they are going to sleep here.
State Capital.
City & County Building.
It looks like a castle, but a public library.
The famous Denver Art Museum. The architecture is gorgeous!
This area is Greek Theater. In summer time there are outdoor performances.
I walked along the busiest 16th street, but there were not many people. In New York, Times square are always crowded of people. The stores are the same chains everywhere. Forever 21, H&M, Gap, Hard Rock…nothing special.
There is a downtown information centre, I still went to ask for recommendation. I found if I said I came for studying English in USA, they all said, “ Oh, your English is really good!” I decide I have to say that first, then their expectation will be lower.
The gift shop sells western style goods.
RTD, like cable cars, but it goes on the tracks.
Free buses only go along 16th street.
The landmark is D& F Tower. It’s romantic, especially it was Valentine’s Day. When a street Cleaner gave me a chocolate to said happy Valentine’s Day, I just remembered it was!
Let’s play chess here!
There are also carriage horses, but the horses look healthier.
I walked around and looked for a restaurant. I was so tired and sleepy. Finally I found a Italian restaurant, the meal looked and tasted good, but maybe….it caused my nightmare….
At night, Trinity Methodist Church looks beautiful. I parked my car there because the man who works at the tourist center said the parking fee is cheaper.
I tried to drive back my hotel, but I got lost. Accidently I found Walmart. I heard a lot about it, but never entered it. I got a chance to visit….but nothing special!!!
Today I went to sleep directly, so tired! But...

Actually it was the beginning of the day, around 4 am, I woke up for vomiting and had diarrhea. Every half an hour, I had to go to the restroom. I felt my whole body severe sore and couldn’t stand. I was so uncomfortable and scared. In a strange city and other country, I am traveling alone. Who can help me? I slept and vomited and went to the restroom all day until 3 pm. I thought I felt better, and I needed to buy food. I still visited a nearby place.
The tour guide said we can see Denver’s skyline from Denver Museum of nature and Science in City Park which is like Central Park in NYC. I didn’t visit it, just wanted to see the skyline of Denver.
The lake is called City Park Lake, very peaceful. Some people go jogging and walk dogs here.
Can you tell I just vomited and had diarrhea lasting 6 hours? (That's the magic of make-up!) At that time I was dizzy and tired, so I only took few my own pictures.
I recorded the sounds from the environment, more feelings than pictures.
I couldn’t do more sightseeing; I needed to get food and medicine. I bought some yogurts and bread. I couldn’t eat anything solid food. And asked for consulting at a pharmacy to get some pills.
Even I was sick and almost fell asleep, I still had to drive back to the hotel!
Thanks you all. I kept thinking of your supports and them I could get over from the illness and was still safe to go back the room!
Hope the worst day had already passed!
